Cagüeiro: It is a myth from the eastern region. These are human beings who have the ability to become any animal when they see themselves in danger. In general, the legend states that the Cagüeiro is dedicated to stealing or making mischief, and when he was persecuted by the Rural Guard and the peasants, he uttered a spell to become the animal he wanted and thus get rid of a possible capture.

Taking advantage of the low cultural level and the high degree of superstition of the peasant population at the beginning of the Revolution, the internal counter-revolution turned Benito Campos Pires (Campito), former captain of the Rebel Army and head of a gang of rebels, into a Cagüeiro. To do this they relied on the bandit's abilities to break the fences of the LCB Section, claiming that at that time he became a majá _ hence the popular nickname Bandido - Majá _, making him unreachable. This myth was broken on September 4, 1964 when at the Santa Teresa farm in the town, Campito was left inside a fence and when he found himself with no possibility of escape, he chose to commit suicide. Among its victims were Guillermo Llabre Romaní, a MR - 26 - 7 fighter, and Pedro Morejón Quintana, a militiaman and literacy worker.
