Obtain the driving license

Description of the procedure: Obtaining the Driving License for the first time, for Cuban citizens, Temporary Resident Foreigners and Permanent Resident Foreigners.

Requirements: The Driving License is issued to people over 18 years of age with the exceptions of the Military Special, which can be granted from the age of 17, at the request of the Military institution and except for payment. In accordance with the provisions of Article 268 of the Road Safety Code, category (A1), can be granted from 16 years of age.

For any procedure to carry out a Driving License it is mandatory to present the Identity Card.

For information:

• Appear at the polyclinic in your area of ​​residence, to perform the medical examination. According to Article 270 of the Road Safety Code, if it is suitable for the medical commission, appear at the School of Road Education to process the course that accredits by certificate, its approval.
• The Certificates are endorsed by the Ministry of Transport and the National Organ in charge of traffic safety. According to Article 254 of the Road Safety Code.

The applicant may appear at the Territorial Driving License Center to which he belongs once he obtains the certificate that the previous numbers legalize.

In the Special Municipality the Theoretical Exams are carried out from Monday to Friday.

Applicants who request the Practical exams in the category of F and FE can appear in our municipal procedures units.

Applicants who request the practical exams in the A, B and C categories can be presented in the Procedures unit in Nueva Gerona.

In the municipality the practical exams are carried out in the categories: A, B, C, D, E and in the sub categories: A-1, C-1 and D-1.

To take the Theoretical Exam you must present:

Certificates that legitimize the Medical examination and the School of Road Education

Stamps: Stamp $ 30.00 in stamped stamps.

To request the theoretical exam, according to Articles 273 and 274, the applicant has three opportunities.

The theoretical exam grade is obtained on the spot.

To suspend: The applicant has the right to appear three times, to suspend once, he will appear twice more for a period of at least seven days.

If approved: The applicant is granted a Driving Learner's Permit, for a term of six months, extendable for another six months for a value of $ 30.00 CUP in stamped stamps.

Learner's permit to drive: The learner's permit is issued, which allows you to drive on authorized roads, with a companion with the same category to which you aspire and with at least three years of driving experience, this certificate has a term of six months, extendable for six months, for a value of $ 30.00 CUP in stamp stamps.

Practical test:

The applicant must deliver to the specialist for whom he will be evaluated in the practical exam, the School certificate, medical exam, two photos and the learner's permit, and take an exam where the parameters established in the Road Safety code will be evaluated.

Approve: The driving license will be prepared and delivered to you at the time.

Suspend: The driver will appear twice more for a period of at least seven days. If it is disapproved on the third opportunity, the applicant can start the process again at any time, upon presentation of the current documentation and the payment of tax on documents established in the regulations.

The aforementioned procedures will be mandatory for all applicants who request a new degree and a new higher category, C, D, E and FE.

Note:

The different procedures carried out in our Driving License Units are personal.

All applicants are advised that the application documents for obtaining a new title or a new category once the procedures have begun in a certain province are not valid in another province, so it must start again from the beginning.

Approximate duration time:

Obtaining the medical certificate: this is given in the duration of a medical consultation except those that due to their particularities carry other procedures as determined by the medical commission.

Obtaining the certificate endorsed by the Ministry of Transport and the National Body in charge of traffic safety: They are given in the estimated time that the institutions determine that the driver is ready to carry out said activity.
